Join Sunday Mud Club!
Join us at The Garage from 10-4 on Sundays for open studio time. Enjoy free access to the studio space, tools, and glazes to develop your own projects. Firings will take place weekly, alternating bisque and glaze firing cycles. Mud Club is a great option for potters who do not require much instruction (although help is always nearby) and mostly need a space to create and fire their own work.
If you are new to ceramics, you must take an introductory workshop before becoming eligible to join Mud Club. Students who have previously or are currently enrolled in an introductory course are welcome to participate. If you are currently enrolled in the Intro to Hand-building course, then your fee is waived. Treat this as extra work time to develop the projects you started in class.
Rates are as follows:
$30/day drop in rate - This is a flat rate daily fee. Hours are 10-4 each Sunday, and you can stay as little or as long as you’d like during this allotted time. You are responsible for transporting your work to and from the studio, except when put on the shelf to fire. There is no other shelf space available for drop-ins. You must purchase your own clay for personal use. Clay is available in the studio for purchase at $15/bag. You may also bring your own clay, as long as it is mid-range clay as we bisque fire to Cone 04 and glaze to Cone 5. Please have your personal clay approved by Madeline before use in the studio.
$100/month membership - This is a monthly membership, charged on the 1st of each month. Members are given a shelf to keep their work from week to week and do not need to transport their work to and from home. Hours are 10-4 each Sunday, and you can stay as little or as long as you’d like during this allotted time. Members must also purchase their own clay, although all other materials and tools are provided (feel free to bring your own if you’d like). Clay is available in the studio for purchase at $15/bag.
Once a month, Show/Tell/Critique will be hosted after hours as a chance to engage with other Mud Club members, show what you’re working on, see what others are up to, and give/receive feedback in a safe and supportive space. Light snacks and drinks are provided.
Are you interested in joining us for Sunday Mud Club? Please use the form below to tell us a bit about your experience in ceramics, and whether you’d like to participate on a drop-in basis or if you’d like to reserve a shelf as a member. There is no obligation to continue membership from month to month. However, if you give up your shelf space as a member, you may have to re-join a waitlist depending on availability. Please use “Sunday Mud Club” as the subject line on the form.
Just looking for a place to fire your work? Firings take place every week, and all pieces must be dropped off by the end of the day on Thursday to be fired on Sunday. Use the form below to inquire about firing your work at The Garage.
